Physical and chemical properties
Pure menpronil is white crystalline solid; Density, 1.222; Melting Point, 92~93¡ãC; Boiling point, 186¡ãC/10.7Pa. Active ingredient in technical, ¡Ý97%; Technical density, 1.134; Melting point, 93.6~94.2¡ãC; Vapour pressure, 0.56mpa(20¡ãC). Solubility in water at 20¡ãC, 12.7mg/l, >500g/L in acetone and methanol, 28.2g/l in benzene, 1.1g/l in hexane; Kow, 4570. No inflammable. Wide stability in acidic and and alkalis media, stable to heat and sunlight, hydrolyzed by strong alkalis.

Toxicity: Low toxic fungicide. Acute oral LD50 for rats >10g/kg, acute dermal LD50 for rats >10g/kg, acute inhale LC50 for rats >1.32mg/L. Irritation to eyes and skin of rabbits. Subacute oral non-effect level for male and female rats, 43mg/kg•d, 52mg/kg•d respectively. Sub-acute dermal non-effect level for rabbits 2.5mg/kg. Chronic oral non-effect level for male and female rats, 5.9mg/kg•d and 72.9mg/kg•d respectively. No carcinogenic, mutagenic and teratogenic effects at experimental dosage. No effecte to earthworms at concentration of up to 100ppm in soil. LC50 for carp (Cyprinus carpio) (48h), 8.6mg/l; mackerel, >10mg/L. Contact LD50 for bees >1g/head, dermal LD50>1g/head, Partridge, >2g/kg, wigeon, >2g/kg. Acute oral LD50 of 75% CWP for rats >0.5g/kg, acute dermal LD50 for rabbits >2g/kg, acute inhale LC50 for rats >2.06mg/L.
